Passwords: Issues with Logging Into CMIS

Passwords: Issues with Logging Into CMIS

INTRODUCTION.

This brief article shares ways that a CMIS end user can troubleshoot issues that they may be experiencing when trying to log into CMIS.

When an end user is unable to log into CMIS, there are four different levels of how to address the issue:
1. Checking for the correct URL and username.
2. Using the "Forgot Password" link on the CMIS login page.
3. Requesting assistance from your organization's Agency Administrator.
4. Reaching out to Housing Alliance Delaware for login assistance.

1. Checking for the correct URL and username.

Many times, end users that are unable to log into CMIS are logging into the wrong system. Our CMIS uses WellSky's Community Services, a software that is used by many CoCs across the country. Many times, Delaware end users are attempting to log into another CoC's system.

Make sure that you are using the correct URL to access Delaware's CMIS: wscs.wellsky.com/delaware

Usernames may also be mistaken. For most users, the following naming convention is used to create usernames: first initial + last name spelled out
For example, John Smith's CMIS username will most likely be jsmith.

For end users who do not remember their password to log into CMIS, the "Forgot Password" link, found to the lower left corner of the login screen, can be used.

The user will be prompted to provide their username, and an email will be sent to the associated email address with a link to reset their password.

NOTE THAT THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK FOR ALL END USERS. WellSky has communicated that this is most likely due to your organization's firewall settings.

If you have requested a password reset through the "Forgot Password" link and an email has not been sent within 15 minutes, another method to recover CMIS access should be used (see items #3 and #4 below).

3. Requesting assistance from your organization's Agency Administrator.

Agency Administrators are a point of contact within each CMIS-participating agency to address CMIS-related matters. With their user access, Agency Admins have the ability to manually reset the passwords of their organization's end users. This setting is not available to those in CMIS whose logins are set as "Case Manager II".

Agency Administrators can follow the instructions in this article to reset passwords for their organization's end users.

4. Reaching out to Housing Alliance Delaware for login assistance.

If none of the options listed above work, contact Housing Alliance Delaware CMIS staff to request a manual password reset. Housing Alliance Delaware's CMIS support email is cmis@housingalliancede.org.
HAD staff cannot see end users' passwords or their failed attempts at logging in while troubleshooting (for security reasons). Therefore, they will change your password to a temporary password that can be used to log in. After using this temporary password, the end user will be prompted to change their "expired" password to a new password that will then work for 45 days.
